Why is my cellular data not working after installing my Miyaw eSIM?

By Serhat Dogan · Last updated 2026-06-04

Most 'no data' cases come down to one of three things: Data Roaming is off, the eSIM isn't selected as your data line, or it's still finishing activation. A travel eSIM connects by roaming onto local partner networks, so Data Roaming must be ON for the Miyaw line. Work through the checks below in order — the first two fix the large majority of cases.

Turn Data Roaming on for the Miyaw line

Travel eSIMs reach the internet by roaming onto local partner networks — they are not the home network of any carrier. Leaving Data Roaming off is the single most common reason data won't work. Turn it on for the Miyaw line only, and switch it off on your home SIM so that line never racks up charges.

Make the Miyaw eSIM your data line

On a dual-SIM phone, data uses whichever line you chose. Set the Miyaw eSIM as the line for cellular data, and confirm the line itself is switched on. If your home line is still set for data, pages won't load over Miyaw.

Check the APN (usually automatic)

On almost all plans the APN is configured automatically — you don't touch it. The known exception is Japan, where you set the APN by hand: vmobile.jp for the Docomo plan, or plus.4g for the Softbank day plan. A few Android models may also need the APN added manually; the value is in your confirmation.

On iPhone (iOS 18 and later)

  1. 1Open Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data).
  2. 2Tap the Miyaw eSIM line and turn on 'Turn On This Line'.
  3. 3Back in Cellular, set 'Cellular Data' to the Miyaw eSIM line.
  4. 4Tap the Miyaw line → Cellular Data Options → Data Roaming → ON.
  5. 5If you still see no data, set Network Selection to Automatic.

On Android (Pixel / stock Android 15)

  1. 1Open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs and select the Miyaw eSIM.
  2. 2Turn 'Mobile data' on for that line.
  3. 3Turn 'Roaming' on for that line.
  4. 4Set the Miyaw eSIM as your preferred data SIM.
  5. 5Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → eSIM → Mobile Networks → Data Roaming.

Step-by-step fixes

  1. 1Confirm you have signal and you're inside a country your plan covers.
  2. 2Turn Data Roaming ON for the Miyaw eSIM line (see the iPhone / Android steps below).
  3. 3Set the Miyaw eSIM as your cellular-data line and make sure the line is switched on.
  4. 4Toggle Airplane Mode on for about 30 seconds, then off, to re-register on the network.
  5. 5Restart your phone.
  6. 6Still stuck? Email hello@miyaw.io — and don't delete the eSIM, as that can stop you reinstalling it.
